Mining is the collection of activities involved in the discovery and extraction of minerals found beneath the earth's surface. Minerals can be metals like gold, silver or copper.
The metals are mixed with many other elements, but occasionally large quantities of certain metals concentrated in a relatively small area are found - the deposit - from which one or more metals which have economic benefits can be extracted. |
