The DEI confirms that the mining company Entremares paid too much in tax. ‘I’m not just worried: I’m also angry because what the Government is doing is accepting the ecological damage, the damage to the health of the people in Siria Valley, accepting all the pollution caused by this company Entremares’, denounced Dolores Valenzuela, coordinator of the Honduran Association of Environmental and Agroforestry Journalists.

Informal gold mining has led to more than 2,000 tons of the dangerous metal mercury being dumped into the Brazilian environment. The eight countries of the Amazon Basin will present a plan of action to protect the region in September.
